Esther Miller
The Esther Miller Center for Fellowship & Discipleship Training is named after the first elected and ordained Ruling Elder of GCC. Before this time, Esther had served the church for over 30 years as the church clerk, a Sunday School teacher, treasurer, nursery attendee, head of the Women's Circle, event planner for the church, and adviser to the Board of Elders. Her support was the glue which held the fellowship of the church together.
In recognition of Esther's hard work and dedication to Christian Education, Evangelism, and Fellowship, the Esther Miller Center for Fellowship & Discipleship Training was launched in October of 2024. This Center seeks to be a hub of Christin activity in the Vilas Community by inviting speakers for symposiums, raising funds to train new disciples of Christ, and to host the Esther Miller Scholarship which is overseen and distributed by the Board of Elders of Grace Christian Church. The Application for the scholarship can be found below. It is an interdenominational scholarship, with preference being given to women seeking to become ministers in the High Country of North Carolina, in the amount of $1000.00.
